French Journalists Travel To Vancouver, Canada to Report On Nathalie Gettliffe Case
Word on the street has it that at least 10 French journalists are on their way to Vancouver, British Columbia, in Canada, for a week to report on the living conditions of Nathalie Gettliffe and her infant son, Martin Gruzelle-Gettliffe.
We're not yet sure if this is sponsored by the French or Canadian government, but it is an interesting development nonetheless.
Nathalie Gettliffe has been incarcerated since April this year, and her two young children, Josephine and Maximillien Gettliffe-Grant have been forced to live in Canada against their wills with their father, Scott Grant.
Neither child speaks English, as they have been raised in France for the past five years.
We are waiting to hear from the Ministry of Children and Family Development in British Columbia to understand how they will assist the children to visit their mother and infant brother on a regular basis, given that Scott Grant appears to deny them this right, at whim.
We are concerned for the children, that they have been caught up in a manipulated situation where one spouse is taking advantage of the criminal justice sytem in order to punish his former wife, despite the fact that he signed a document stating that he agreed that their children would live their mother in France.
Something smells awful in the land of Canada....

I dont know what smells awful in the land of Canada, may be you guys no??
Haven't you heard Judge Garson???
You folks have done so much harm to that woman with your lies. The judges in this country are not dumb or deaf and NO SECT HAS INFILTRATED OUR SYSTEM.
The public has a right to know the facts or would you prefer us to remain deaf and dumb to those children's voices?
Who said anything about a "sect" infiltrating "your" system? What system are you talking about?
To Anonymous:
you missed the point completely...as it appears did Judge Garson -
Why have the children not got a lawyer?
Any judge in the UK would tell you that a child has the right to be represented by an independent attorney or advocate - why are these two youngsters not represented? It appears that the judges in your country are "dumb and deaf", to use your phrase, with regards to Josephine and Maximilien.
Chew on that, old fellow

My congratulation to the comment of John C.
The children need to be represented in court. I wonder if this would be possible in France; not sure!

Kathleen said,
I am a Canadian writing a book entitled "When Best Isn't Good Enough". It is a series of case histories and interaction with our legal system. I guarantee that it is true that our Justice system has not only systemic problems but, corruption amongst Canadian Judges and lawyers is overwhelming.
I have followed Nathalie Gettliffe's case and requested Canadian government officials undertake a public inquiry as well as suspend the licenses of all lawyers and Judges involved in this case pending the outcome of a malpractice investigation.
I forward my sincerest applogies to Nathalie and her family. At this point, I would recommend an attempt to plea bargain whereby Nathalie simply returns to France. Justice Nicole Garson has obviously overstepped her reach to become Scott Grant's surrogate wife and the surrogate mother of Josephine and Maximilien. Outside of a miracle, Nathalie does not stand a chance in English Canada. In another year or so the children will be of age to decide for themselves wherre they want to locate.
In Canada, there is significant amounts of on-going hidden violence against women and children. Under Common Law, Human Rights are routinely abused, rarely reported and covered up using any 'rule of law' as an excuse.
The system is not going to improve overnight. Nathalie is better to be with her husband and family in France rather than rotting away here in Canadian prison and being subjected to the continual abuse and mockery by our courts and journalists.
It is very true that Canada is not a 'just' nation by any standards of the imagination.
Kathleen
Dear Kathleen
Your comments I fear ring true.
Please advise whether you have published, do you practice law?
I worked for federal judicial affairs in Ottawa some time ago, and I can assure you I was astounded at how judges were selected in Canada.
As for the personnel in that office for the most part they were gophers....I am referring to the boss and a few of the lawyers.
Something has to be done!
I have no doubt that our dear prosecutor Gail Dickson got a handsome little reward for having towed the party line.
You may read between the lines!
